Social Responsibility & Inclusion
Outdoor Opportunities for Everyone
At Active Zone Outdoor, we believe that sports, outdoor recreation and experiential learning should be accessible to everyone.
Participation in outdoor activities can improve physical and mental wellbeing, strengthen confidence, develop social skills and create meaningful connections between people.
However, financial limitations, disability, social exclusion, gender stereotypes and other barriers can prevent individuals from accessing these opportunities.
Our social responsibility is centred on reducing these barriers and creating inclusive environments where people can participate, learn and develop.
Our Social Priorities
1. Affordable Outdoor Activities
We aim to make sports and outdoor experiences financially accessible to as many people as possible.
Whenever resources and activity conditions allow, we provide activities free of charge or at a minimal participation cost.
Through partnerships, volunteering, project funding and community support, we seek to reduce financial barriers and create opportunities for individuals and families who might otherwise be excluded.
Our objective is to ensure that financial circumstances do not become an unnecessary obstacle to participation.
2. Inclusive and Adapted Sports for People with Disabilities
We are committed to promoting the participation of people with disabilities in sports, outdoor recreation and experiential learning.
Rather than expecting participants to adapt to existing activities, we aim to adapt activities to accommodate different abilities, needs and preferences.
Our approach includes considering physical accessibility, adapting equipment and activity methods, providing appropriate support and using accessible communication.
We recognise that accessibility is not limited to physical infrastructure. Clear instructions, understandable information, flexible participation methods and supportive environments are equally important.
Through inclusive programme design and collaboration with disability organisations, we aim to increase opportunities for meaningful and safe participation.
3. Prioritising Young People with Fewer Opportunities
Young people facing economic, social, geographical, educational or disability-related barriers may have fewer opportunities to participate in sports, volunteering and non-formal education.
We aim to prioritise their inclusion in our programmes and projects.
Our approach includes reducing participation costs, providing appropriate support, adapting activities and working with organisations that support young people with fewer opportunities.
Through outdoor experiences, volunteering and experiential learning, we seek to strengthen their confidence, independence, social participation and personal development.
4. Gender Equality in Sports
We actively promote women's and girls' participation in sports and outdoor activities.
We recognise that gender stereotypes, limited opportunities, confidence-related barriers and unequal access to resources can influence participation.
Our priorities include encouraging women and girls to explore different sports, supporting their participation in outdoor experiences and promoting inclusive environments where they feel safe, respected and empowered.
We also aim to challenge gender stereotypes, highlight positive female role models and support leadership opportunities for women in sports and outdoor recreation.
5. Health and Wellbeing
Physical activity and contact with nature can contribute positively to physical health, mental wellbeing and quality of life.
We promote active lifestyles through sports, hiking, outdoor recreation, experiential activities and community-based programmes.
Our approach emphasises participation, enjoyment, social interaction and personal development rather than competition alone.
6. Intergenerational Inclusion and Active Ageing
We recognise the importance of creating opportunities for people of different generations to interact, cooperate and learn from one another.
Through intergenerational outdoor activities and community initiatives, we aim to support active ageing, reduce social isolation and strengthen relationships between younger and older people.
These experiences encourage mutual understanding, knowledge exchange and stronger community connections.
7. Volunteering and Youth Empowerment
Volunteering is an important part of our approach to community development.
We create opportunities for young people and other community members to participate in meaningful activities, contribute to local initiatives and develop practical skills.
Through volunteering and non-formal education, participants can strengthen communication, teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, initiative and social responsibility.
We also encourage young people to take an active role in identifying community needs and developing solutions.
8. Diversity, Equality and Community Participation
We aim to create welcoming and respectful environments for people of different ages, abilities, genders, nationalities and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Our approach promotes non-discrimination, equal treatment and meaningful participation.
By collaborating with schools, municipalities, disability organisations, youth organisations, sports clubs and community groups, we seek to reach individuals who may face barriers to participation.
Measuring Our Social Impact
As part of our developing ESG Strategy, we aim to monitor:
- Number and proportion of activities provided free of charge or at reduced cost.
- Participation of people with disabilities in inclusive and adapted activities.
- Participation of young people with fewer opportunities.
- Participation of women and girls in sports programmes.
- Number of volunteering opportunities and volunteer hours.
- Participation of different age groups in intergenerational activities.
- Participant satisfaction, accessibility feedback and reported learning outcomes.
These indicators will help us identify barriers, improve our programmes and strengthen our contribution to inclusive community development.
Building More Inclusive Communities
We welcome collaboration with organisations, public authorities, educational institutions, businesses and community groups interested in expanding access to sports and outdoor experiences.
Through partnerships and shared initiatives, we aim to create opportunities for people who may otherwise be excluded.
At Active Zone Outdoor, inclusion means creating the conditions for everyone to participate, contribute and belong.
